Durham County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Fostering Social Worker to join their fostering team. The role involves supporting foster carers, ensuring the welfare of looked-after children, and contributing to the development of high-quality fostering services.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake assessments of prospective foster carers using relevant frameworks (e.g., Form F assessments).
Provide ongoing support and supervision to approved foster carers.
Ensure that placements are safe, stable, and meet the needs of children and young people.
Participate in fostering panel presentations and contribute to panel reports.
Work closely with children's social workers, health professionals, and other agencies.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate case records in line with statutory requirements.
Attend training, reviews, and team meetings as required.
Essential Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
Experience in fostering, looked-after children, or related child protection services.
Strong assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
Ability to work both independently and within a team setting.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Fostering Regulations.
