We are seeking an intellectually curious and high-energy Geography Teacher for a full-time, long-term temporary position at our partner secondary school in Morden. This role is designed for a specialist who can bring the world into the classroom, challenging students to think critically about everything from local urban regeneration to global tectonic hazards. Starting as soon as possible or in September, this role offers the stability of a full-time schedule within a supportive Humanities faculty.
Your Strategic Impact: Responsibilities
- Academic Excellence: Plan and deliver high-quality Geography lessons across KS3 and KS4, with the potential to support A-Level cohorts in human and physical geography.
- Inquiry-Based Learning: Foster a deep understanding of geographical processes, encouraging students to analyse data, evaluate conflicting viewpoints, and formulate evidence-based arguments.
- GCSE Strategy: Lead Year 11 groups through their exam specifications (AQA/Edexcel), utilising precise tracking to identify learning gaps and implement effective, high-level interventions.
- Digital Geography: Integrate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and digital mapping tools into your teaching to equip students with modern analytical skills.
- Fieldwork Advocacy: Contribute to the planning and delivery of essential fieldwork investigations, helping students apply theoretical concepts to the real world.
- Global Perspective: Link the curriculum to contemporary issues such as climate change, sustainability, and global inequality, making the subject relevant to the diverse Morden community.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Subject Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for the natural and human world, with the ability to inspire students of all ability levels.
