Compass Community Schools is seeking an inspirational and committed Headteacher to lead one of our small schools (maximum 12 pupils). You will play a vital role in our excellent leadership team, embodying our vision and ethos, and modelling a consistently aspirational approach that ensures 'Highest Expectations for All'.
The Role: Leadership, Management, and Impact
This crucial role reports directly to the Regional Executive Headteacher. You will be responsible for the effective day-to-day leadership and management of the school.
A primary focus will be holding responsibility for Personal Development and Behaviour and Attitudes.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Strategic Leadership and Development: Ensure the school's vision is clearly articulated and acted upon by all staff. Provide strategic leadership to drive high standards for 'Behaviour and Attitudes' and 'Personal Development'.
Leading Provision: Monitor and evaluate school performance to ensure all practice is as good as our best. You will work closely with families and carers to ensure behaviour expectations are well understood and adhered to community-wide.
Leading People: Act as a role model and set the tone, creating and sustaining effective professional relationships with all staff. Elicit high performance from colleagues through rigorous, supportive appraisal processes.
Managing the Organisation: Manage finances and commission resources to enable the best-possible provision for Personal Development' and 'Behaviour and Attitudes'. In the absence of the Head Teacher, you will be responsible for the oversight of the school's day-to-day running.
Safeguarding: Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within the school, working closely with the Deputy DSL (Executive Regional Headteacher). You will actively promote welfare and adopt exceptional safeguarding practice to contribute towards the school's excellent culture of safeguarding.
Accountability and Community: Produce regular and timely reports regarding school performance for the Director of Education and Governors. Demonstrate sustained determination to ensure and encourage good relations between the school and its families, carers, and the wider community.
Teaching Commitment: This post is envisaged to be 50% teaching and 50% non-contact.
