Health and Safety Manager needed for a leading provider in the social housing sector, known for delivering high-quality, cost-effective services to clients.
This is a pivotal, hands-on role where you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies across our operations. You'll ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation, drive continuous improvement in our safety culture, and provide essential training and guidance to staff and subcontractors across all sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and site inspections on projects.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Deliver effective health and safety training and inductions for employees and contractors.
- Maintain meticulous records of incidents, inspections, and training activities.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies and manage all necessary permits and documentation.
- Provide strategic health and safety input to senior management.
- Take full accountability for overall health and safety performance, setting standards and goals.
- Prioritize health and safety requirements and authorize related expenses.
- Manage emergency procedures and respond to health and safety-related complaints.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, regulatory bodies (e.g., HSE, Fire & Rescue), and insurance companies.
What You'll Bring:
- NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in heating, construction, or M&E sectors.
- A thorough understanding of UK health and safety regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Membership of IOSH (CertIOSH or higher).
- Experience managing safety across multiple projects/sites.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015.
- Environmental & Quality experience.
- Social housing experience.
