Pay: Up to £17.50 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Work Schedule: * Monday to Thursday: Core hours are 08:00 - 16:00, though the team is open to later starts, ideally 09:00 - 17:00. Friday: Core hours 08:00 - 15:30, ideally 09:00 - 16:30.
Key Responsibilities
As a vital member of the Imports & Duty Team, you will ensure all goods are cleared accurately and promptly to avoid increased costs or production delays. Your duties will include:
- Customs Management: Operating the Ricardo duty management system to handle import and customs procedures.
- HMRC Liaison: Managing activities requested by HMRC to ensure full compliance with customs regimes and European Community regulations.
- Documentation: Raising and sending import instructions to agents and ensuring all import entries are filed by due dates.
- Compliance & Audit: Maintaining the Imports Master Log for audit purposes and supporting trade compliance practices
- Financial Administration: Authorising customs clearance agency use of deferment accounts and processing monthly returns of duties and taxes paid.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaising with suppliers, shipping lines, and hauliers regarding the movement of goods.
The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in supply chain and customs formalities.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
Technical Knowledge: Previous experience with ERP systems (such as SAP) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Expertise: A solid understanding of UK import formalities.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills for dealing with overseas suppliers and internal teams.
Attributes: Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and maintain high attention to detail.
Experience with Tableau or other analytics tools.
An understanding of LEAN Principles.
Prior experience using a Duty Management System.
