INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (ENGINEERING OR DIGITAL)
Location: Newry or Portadown (Travel between College campus locations as required)
Salary: £38,220 - £40,777 per annum
Hours: 36 hours per week

The Innovation and Technology Specialist (ITS) will bridge the gap between business needs and technical support. You will lead and develop skills for industry engagement in product design, lean manufacturing, IT, and emerging digital technologies-helping local businesses innovate, compete, and grow while ensuring modern industry practices feed back into the College's curriculum.

- Business Engagement & Delivery: Identify local businesses, assess their technical needs, and deliver specialist mentoring, research, and development services.
Provide reports, written and oral, whilst ensuring that all documentation and authorisation procedures are adhered to.
- Funding & Project Execution: Help clients secure and execute funded initiatives, including InnovateUs, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs), Invest NI Innovation Vouchers, and InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost programmes.
- Curriculum Integration: Collaborate with College faculties to communicate new industry processes, embedding modern technical expertise directly into academic courses. Abide by all College procedures and ensure these are implemented within the context of the post, ensure full compliance with College health and safety requirements
- Events & Knowledge Transfer: Host specialist webinars, masterclasses, and industry forums to raise the profile of SRC's innovation services. Contribute to income generation through the delivery of a range of specialist mentoring and research services and programmes for local and regional businesses.
- Line & Risk Management: Line-manage tasks such as issues including conduct and discipline, performance management, attendance management, staff appraisal, curriculum and staff development - while maintaining client data on the CRM system, and manage operational planning, reporting, and risk controls.
Essential Criteria:
- A Degree (or higher) aligned with Engineering, IT, or a related sector.
- GCSE English Language (or Essential Skills Level 2 Literacy / equivalent).
- GCSE Mathematics (or Essential Skills Level 2 Numeracy / NICATS Access Maths / equivalent)
- UK Drivers Licence required
Industry Experience Required:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the last 5 years working within industry or delivering technical mentoring/support in at least one of the following sectors:
- Engineering: Product Design/Development, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics, or Software Engineering.
- Digital & IT: Computer Science, Programming, Cloud Computing, Mobile Development, Software Development, E-Commerce/Digital Transformation, or Creative/Digital Technologies.
