Travel Footprint: 1-2 days per week visiting key South East operational sites and hauliers (primarily focused on larger local hubs such as Heathrow, Greenwich, Crawley, and Purfleet on an escalation and compliance-check basis).
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Contract Type: 4-Month Temporary Contract (With potential for extension)
About the Role
Are you looking for a dynamic logistics role where supplier engagement, data-driven performance insights, and logistics compliance come together?
Holcim UK is recruiting a Logistics Category Specialist to oversee and support our outsourced regional haulier and 3PL network across the South East on an initial 4-month contract. This is not a conventional planning or scheduling role. Instead, you will act as the vital strategic link between external transport providers and our wider internal logistics and category teams.
Operating directly from our Brentford base, you will play a critical role in tracking supplier delivery metrics, supporting commercial decisions, and keeping a tight grip on transport safety and compliance standards across the local network during this temporary period.
Work Pattern & Hybrid Split
This position offers a highly structured yet flexible regional routine:
2 Days: Based onsite at the regional hub office in Brentford.
1-2 Days: Field-based visiting regional hauliers and key South East sites.
Remainder: Flexible working from home.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier & Relationship Management: Act as the primary, trusted point of contact for regional hauliers and logistics suppliers, resolving day-to-day queries and managing partner relations.
Targeted Compliance & Audits: Conduct vehicle inspections, site safety visits, and supplier compliance checks. Travel will be targeted and escalation-based, focusing primarily on our larger South East operations (including major hubs like Heathrow, Greenwich, Crawley, Colemans, Botley, Tilbury, Acton, Theale, Hitchin, Kempsford, and FY sites like Purfleet, Northfleet, IOG, and Torrington).
Performance Analytics: Monitor telematics data, build supplier scorecards, and design performance dashboards to identify tracking trends, mitigate supply risks, and uncover improvement opportunities.
Commercial Support: Provide data-driven insights to support commercial rate discussions, supplier selection, and regional capacity planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal Operations and Procurement teams to balance supplier performance, cost-efficiencies, and service quality.
Who You Are
External Logistics Experience: You possess a proven track record working directly with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, hauliers, or freight suppliers, rather than purely internal dispatch or scheduling.
Compliance Minded: You have a strong foundational understanding of transport compliance, safety metrics, and supplier performance management frameworks.
Data-Literate: You are comfortable working with performance data, tracking KPIs, and converting analytics into actionable operational improvements.
Proactive & Mobile: You enjoy getting out on-site to handle compliance escalations and are fully commutable to Brentford for your office days.
Organized: Highly structured and self-motivated, with the ability to manage your own calendar across a hybrid working split.
What We Offer
Competitive Compensation: A salary band equivalent to £35k-£50k with competitive rates of pay.
True Hybrid Flexibility: A balanced weekly split between our Brentford base, home working, and interactive site visits.
Comprehensive Benefits: Paid holiday entitlement, dedicated career support team, and exclusive online retail and restaurant discounts.
Referral Scheme: Access to our referral incentive program (earn up to £300* for referring a friend).
