About the Role
We're currently looking for a skilled and experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join our Facilities Maintenance team. This crucial role involves leading a team of engineers and subcontractors to deliver high-standard, safe, and compliant planned and reactive mechanical maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and Support Mechanical Engineers: Supervise, mentor, and provide day-to-day operational support to mechanical engineering staff, ensuring the efficient and high-quality delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, complex repairs, and minor installations.
Hands-On Technical Execution: Actively engage in mechanical work as required, providing direct support during critical breakdowns, complex fault-finding, or major installations to ensure timely and effective resolution.
Site Compliance and Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site audits and inspections of mechanical works, rigorously ensuring adherence to all relevant Health & Safety (H&S) regulations, statutory requirements, and company quality standards.
Workforce Planning and Scheduling Support: Assist the management team in the meticulous planning and scheduling of mechanical maintenance works, aiming for optimal resource allocation, timely completion, and minimal disruption to client operations.
Stakeholder Communication and Engagement: Maintain clear and effective communication channels with clients, site managers, and other key stakeholders, ensuring expectations are managed, updates are provided, and collaborative relationships are fostered.
Comprehensive Record Keeping: Ensure the accurate and detailed maintenance of all essential documentation, including job sheets, risk assessments, method statements, and asset registers, often utilising Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems.
Technical Development and Training: Offer ongoing technical support, guidance, and formal or informal training to team members, contributing to their continuous professional development and skill enhancement.
Requirements
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, HVAC or equivalent (e.g City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC, HND)
Proven experience in a similar supervisory role within facilities maintenance.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and heating systems.
Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations and industry standards.
Full UK driving licence.
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Ability to use CAFM systems and Microsoft Office packages.
Desirable
IOSH or SMSTS qualification.
Experience working in healthcare, education, or public sector environments.
Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and risk assessment procedures.
