Purfleet
Are you a linguist with the passion to open doors to new cultures for the students of Purfleet?
Can you bridge the gap between classroom learning and global communication?
Whether you are a native speaker or a highly proficient linguist, are you ready to join a growing secondary school in Thurrock that values modern languages as a vital part of a 21st-century education?
We are seeking a dedicated Qualified MFL Teacher (QTS) to join our partner Secondary School in Purfleet-on-Thames. In an increasingly interconnected world, the ability to communicate in a second language is more valuable than ever. We are looking for an educator who can deliver high-energy Spanish and/or French lessons, inspiring students at KS3 and KS4 to see beyond their own horizons and develop a lifelong love for languages.
Your Responsibilities
- Linguistic Excellence: Plan and deliver engaging MFL lessons (primarily Spanish and French) across KS3 and KS4, focusing on the four key skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
- Cultural Immersion: Bring languages to life by integrating cultural awareness into the curriculum-exploring traditions, music, and history from the Spanish and French-speaking worlds.
- Exam Strategy: Prepare Year 11 cohorts for their GCSE assessments, utilising targeted interventions and oral practice to maximise confidence and attainment.
- Inclusive Pedagogy: Differentiate language tasks for a wide range of abilities, ensuring high-attainers are challenged with complex grammar while providing scaffolding for students new to the language.
- Interactive Learning: Utilize digital tools, games, and authentic materials to create a vibrant, "low-stakes, high-reward" environment for language acquisition.
- Faculty Collaboration: Work with the MFL department to share innovative resources and contribute to extracurricular activities like language clubs or international trips.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in Spanish, French, or a related Modern Foreign Languages discipline.
- Subject Versatility: The ability to teach Spanish to KS4 and French to at least KS3 is highly desirable.
- Communication Flair: The ability to explain complex grammatical structures simply and motivate students to participate in verbal practice.
- Thurrock Resilience: A proactive approach to classroom management and a commitment to the school's inclusive, community-focused ethos.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
