The Role
We are seeking a professional and highly motivated Multi-Skilled Plumber to deliver essential responsive maintenance and void property works for Woking Borough Council.
In this role, you will be the key point of contact for residents, providing high-quality plumbing repairs and full bathroom installations. We are looking for a "Right First Time" specialist who takes pride in their workmanship and can handle the complexities of residential maintenance with a professional, customer-focused attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Maintenance: Diagnose and rectify faults within core plumbing and secondary trade repair requests.
Bathroom Specialist: Execute all aspects of bathroom installations, including high-standard tiling.
Emergency Response: Respond swiftly to emergency situations, resolving them efficiently and safely.
Customer Journey: Keep tenants fully updated on progress and plans, remaining professional even when dealing with contentious issues or managing expectations.
Records & Compliance: Maintain accurate digital records of all works undertaken, including photographic evidence via a PDA/smartphone.
Safety & Tools: Apply all Health & Safety rules (RAMS/PPE) and ensure all tools, plant, and equipment are kept in safe, workable condition.
Emergency Rota: Participate in an out-of-hours (OOH) call-out rota to provide 24/7 support to the community.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Problem Solving: A diagnostic mindset with the ability to determine the most effective, long-term repair solution.
Communication: Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and digital.
Self-Management: Highly self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and program your daily workload efficiently.
Team Player: A willingness to share "lessons learned" and best practices with the wider trade team.
Building Regs: A solid understanding of residential Building Regulations.
Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications: Minimum NVQ Level 2-3 in Plumbing (or equivalent).
Multi-Skilled: Must be competent in at least two other secondary trades (e.g., tiling, carpentry, or plastering).
Trade Experience: Over 3 years of trade experience, ideally within the residential repairs or social housing sector.
Installation Expertise: At least 3 years of experience specifically in full bathroom installations.
Compliance: A full current UK driving licence and a clean DBS check (required before commencement).
Desirable: Previous experience with laminate fitting.
