We are seeking a qualified and skilled Painter and Decorator to join a dedicated maintenance team supporting a high-profile public sector contract portfolio across North Somerset / Bristol (BS34 area). This temporary position focuses on delivering high-quality lifecycle decorating and fabric upkeep across multiple secure facilities.
Role Overview
Pay Rate: £19.00 per hour.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00.
Contract Type:(Initial contract through 31/09/2026).
Location: North Somerset / Bristol border (BS34).
Start Date: Immediate start available (Pending security clearance).

Key Responsibilities
Lifecycle Decorating: Execute planned lifecycle painting and decorating across internal and external building fabrics across four core regional facilities.
Project Support: Assist with authority change requests and minor refurbishment works where complex fabric alterations are required.
Autonomous Delivery: Interpret instructions, technical drawings, and specifications to prep and set up "New Work" using trade tools without direct supervision.
High-Access Working: Safely operate at heights utilizing tower scaffolding, ladders, step ladders, and Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).
Compliance & CAFM: Complete all tasks in alignment with contract KPIs and statutory Health & Safety guidelines, recording job updates via a digital PDA/Maximo system.
Site Care: Carry out unsupervised maintenance repairs, compile material requisitions, and maintain a clean, tidy, and safe workshop environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
Essential:
Trade Certification: Must hold a recognized City & Guilds, SVQ3, or an equivalent accredited trade qualification in Painting and Decorating.
Industry Background: A strong, provable professional background in commercial or industrial painting and decorating services.
Technical Skills: Good working knowledge of specialized coating systems and finishing techniques, including AMES taping.
Vetting Requirement: Due to the sensitive nature of these public facilities, the selected candidate must successfully clear a strict police vetting process before starting the position.
Desirable:
Valid IPAF / PASMA certifications for operating access equipment.
Previous experience using digital handheld devices (PDAs) for managing maintenance workloads.
