Location: West Midlands (Projects in Birmingham, Coventry, and Wolverhampton)
Rate: £18.00 - £21.00 per hour (Experience dependent)
Contract Type: Long-term Contract
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Pipelayer to join a major civils infrastructure project in the West Midlands. This is a critical role focusing on the installation of deep drainage systems, including concrete culverts and large-bore plastic attenuation systems.
You will be expected to lead the installation process within the trench, working in tandem with the 360 Excavator Operator to ensure every run is laid to precise line and level.
Key Responsibilities
Laying & Jointing: Installing concrete, clay, and plastic pipes of various diameters.
Deep Drainage: Working safely in deep excavations using trench boxes and shoring systems.
Technical Accuracy: Reading site plans and using laser levels/pipe lasers to ensure accurate gradients.
Manhole Construction: Building manholes, catch pits, and installing pre-cast concrete rings.
Backfilling: Overseeing the correct bedding and haunching of pipes to prevent structural failure.
Requirements
CSCS Card: Mandatory (Skilled Worker preferred).
CPCS/NPORS: Confined Spaces (Level 2) is highly desirable for this project.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of pipelaying experience specifically within the Civil Engineering sector.
Skills: Proficient in the use of pipe lasers and reading technical drainage drawings.
Safety: A deep understanding of trench safety and temporary works.
