We are seeking a high-calibre Qualified Year 6 Primary Teacher (QTS mandatory) to join our partner Primary School in Hemel Hempstead for a full-time, long-term placement starting in September 2026. Year 6 is a milestone year, and this school is looking for a dedicated educator who can balance rigorous academic preparation with a creative, engaging curriculum-ensuring pupils leave primary education feeling confident, capable, and thoroughly prepared for secondary school.
Your Responsibilities
- Rigorous Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across all subjects in alignment with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum, pitch-matching to challenge higher-attainers and support lower-ability learners.
- SATS Preparation & Guidance: Utilise clear formative and summative assessment frameworks to monitor pupil tracking data, implementing focused interventions to build confidence ahead of end-of-stage assessments without compromising a broad, balanced curriculum.
- Writing & Mathematical Fluency: Cultivate advanced reading comprehension, sophisticated writing stamina, and complex mathematical problem-solving skills across the cohort.
- Inclusive Classroom Leadership: Effectively deploy and manage classroom Teaching Assistants to deliver targeted 1:1 or small-group interventions, ensuring pupils with SEND and EAL can fully access learning objectives.
- Transition Mentorship: Foster a mature, respectful, and highly organised classroom culture that champions independent thinking, resilience, and emotional readiness for the transition to Key Stage 3.
- Collaborative School Contribution: Maintain proactive, professional partnerships with parents, carers, and upper Key Stage 2 phase leaders to support overall pupil well-being and progress.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A proven history of classroom teaching within a UK primary school setting (prior Year 6 or upper Key Stage 2 experience is highly advantageous).
- Deep Upper KS2 Framework Knowledge: A strong understanding of Key Stage 2 assessment frameworks, primary writing moderation standards, and effective arithmetic strategies.
- Exceptional Behaviour Management: The ability to establish clear routines, high behavioural expectations, and a warm, motivational classroom environment from day one.
- Commitment to the Complete Academic Year: The professional reliability to commit to a full-time, 5-day-a-week timetable starting in September 2026.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
