The Opportunity
With the AMP8 cycle accelerating, we are seeking a versatile Mechanical or Electrical Project Engineer (MEICA) to join a major water treatment infrastructure project in Canterbury.
This role is designed for a technical lead who excels at the intersection of theory and practice. You will be the vital link between the "drawing board" and the "boots on the ground," ensuring that complex mechanical and electrical designs are not only buildable but optimized for the unique rigors of a live water treatment environment.
Key MEICA & Design Responsibilities
Design-to-Site Integration: Work closely with the design team to review technical drawings, specifications, and P&IDs. You will provide essential feedback on "constructability," ensuring designs can be executed safely and efficiently within site constraints.
Systems Coordination: Oversee the installation of Mechanical plant (pumps, mixers, screens) and Electrical infrastructure (MCCs, instrumentation, cabling), ensuring they align perfectly with the original design intent.
Technical Troubleshooting: Resolve engineering clashes by collaborating with designers to issue RFIs and manage design changes without stalling site progress.
Commissioning Leadership: Lead the testing and commissioning phase, verifying that the physical installation meets the performance parameters set out by the design engineers and SCADA/telemetry requirements.
Compliance: Ensure all site works strictly adhere to WIMES (Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications) and environmental regulations.
Technical Requirements
Water Sector Experience (Essential): Deep understanding of water industry standards and previous experience delivering within AMP cycles.
Engineering Background: A proven track record in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, specifically within process-driven environments.
Collaborative Mindset: Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment where you can speak the language of both design consultants and site subcontractors.
Qualifications: * Degree or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
CSCS Card (Gold or Black preferred).
EUSR Water Hygiene card is a must.
Availability: Ready to commence work in the Canterbury area immediately.
