Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied and complex caseload of children and young people who are looked after by the local authority. Ensure their care plans are up-to-date, child-centred, and focused on meeting their specific needs and developmental goals.
- Actively work towards achieving permanence for children and young people. This involves exploring and pursuing options such as reunification with birth families, long-term fostering, adoption, or Special Guardianship Orders.
- Act as a "corporate parent" for children in the local authority's care, championing their rights and needs. This includes advocating for their health, education, and overall well-being.
- Work closely with a range of professionals, including foster carers, residential staff, schools, health professionals (e.g., Children in Care nurses), and other agencies to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to care.
- Fulfill all statutory duties related to children in care, including regular visits, assessments, and reviews. Ensure all interventions and decisions are compliant with relevant legislation, such as the Children Act 1989.
- Produce high-quality, evidence-based reports for Looked After Children (LAC) reviews, permanence panels, and court proceedings. Maintain accurate and timely case records on relevant IT systems.
- Engage directly with children and young people to ensure their wishes, feelings, and views are heard and are central to all planning and decision-making processes.
Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification or equivalent
- Social Work England registered
- Enhanced DBS
