We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, forward-thinking R.E. Teacher for a long-term position at a welcoming and highly regarded secondary school based in St Ives.
This role offers the perfect balance: the continuity and professional fulfilment of managing your own classes and seeing your students progress, alongside the flexibility of a fixed-term contract. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to gain valuable experience and experienced professionals seeking a fresh challenge are equally encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- High-Quality Teaching: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-impact, engaging Religious Studies and Philosophy lessons that challenge and motivate pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE).
- Inclusive Debate: Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, open discussion, and empathy regarding world religions, morals, and contemporary ethics.
- Student Progress: Regularly assess, track, and report on student progress, implementing effective interventions to ensure all learners achieve their full potential.
- Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with a supportive Humanities department to share resources, contribute to curriculum planning, and participate in departmental meetings.
- Pastoral Role: Undertake form tutor responsibilities and contribute positively to the wider life of the school community.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Religious Education / Religious Studies or Humanities.
- Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching R.E. across all secondary age groups and ability levels.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build strong, positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
- Excellent classroom management skills with a positive, proactive approach to student engagement.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to undergo a new application).
