A new Residential Family Assessment Service is being established in Chatham, Kent. This formative opportunity seeks a committed leader to shape a high-quality, trauma-informed residential environment providing court-directed parenting assessments. The Registered Manager will work closely with an experienced Responsible Individual to ensure meaningful assessment and support.
Key Responsibilities
Providing visible, accountable leadership and ensuring full compliance with RFC Regulations, NMS, and all relevant legislation.
Leading on Ofsted registration and maintaining constant inspection readiness.
Acting as the Lead Safeguarding Officer, overseeing all risk assessments, safety plans, and statutory notifications.
Overseeing and quality-assuring all parenting assessments to ensure they are evidence-based, analytical, and timely.
Representing the service in court, providing professional evidence confidently, even in contested hearings.
Leading and developing a skilled, trauma-informed staff team through supervision and reflective practice.
Ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of the centre, including managing budgets, health and safety, and GDPR compliance.
Maintaining strong working relationships with local authorities, courts, and other stakeholders.
Contributing to business development and organisational growth.
Person Specification & Experience
A Social Work qualification (CQSW/DipSW/Degree).
A Level 5 Leadership qualification for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services, or a willingness to complete it within a set timeframe.
Evidence of CPD in areas like safeguarding, trauma, risk assessment, and domestic abuse.
Strong understanding of Residential Family Centres Regulations (RFC Regulations), NMS, the Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF), and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023.
Knowledge of trauma, attachment, domestic abuse, mental health, and child development.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in residential family assessment, safeguarding, or related children-and-family services.
Experience supervising, developing, and leading staff (formal or informal).
Experience contributing to parenting assessments or analytical reports.
