Job Summary
This pivotal position requires an accomplished and empathetic professional to take full operational and strategic responsibility for a Children's Home. The Manager will uphold the highest standards of care, ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations and organisational frameworks (including REACH and GRACE). The core focus is on delivering outstanding outcomes for children by leading an experienced, hand-picked staff team, managing resources effectively, and maintaining a truly therapeutic and homely setting. This role is compensated with a competitive salary ranging from £47,500 to £55,000, alongside a comprehensive benefits package, including a potential £5,000 relocation bonus for candidates moving for the position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day running of the children's home, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment is consistently maintained for all residents.
Team Leadership: Lead, inspire, and manage a chosen staff team, including a Deputy Manager, Seniors, and Support Workers, providing guidance and supervision to ensure best practice in residential childcare.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the home achieves and maintains a minimum of a 'Good' rating in all Ofsted inspections, adhering strictly to all statutory requirements, policies, and procedures.
Child Welfare: Ensure the delivery of outstanding care, acting as a role model to staff, and ensuring child-centred budgets are utilised to provide high-standard, individually tailored support.
Resource Utilisation: Manage the home's resources effectively, benefiting from wide organisational support from IT, HR, and Marketing, allowing time to focus on direct care management.
Professional Development: Engage with industry-leading training, support services from renowned psychologists, and pursue potential Level 7 and therapeutic training qualifications.
Internal Frameworks: Champion the organisation's internal frameworks, such as REACH and GRACE, contributing to a diverse and inclusive workplace and high standards of practice.
On-Call Participation: Participate in a supportive and reliable on-call system, ensuring high-level support is always available to the staff team.
Candidate Requirements
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
A minimum of 5 years' experience in a position directly relevant to the residential care of children.
At least 2 years' experience in a role supervising and managing staff.
Possession of the NVQ Level 3 In Children and Young People's Workforce.
Possession of the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England).
Evidence of achieving a "Good" or "Outstanding" grade within recent Ofsted Inspections.
