Children's Residential Support Worker
Location: Downpatrick
Pay: £14.06 - £15.88 per hour

When a child enters a Residential setting, their world has been turned upside down. They do not need a supervisor; they need a steady anchor.
We are seeking experienced Residential Support Workers to join a specialist Children's Disability service in Downpatrick. This is not about "watching a shift go by." It is about stepping into a high-pressure environment, understanding the trauma behind the behaviour, and bringing safety, structure, and a little bit of warmth back into a young person's day.
This role would best suit applicants that have previously worked in Children's Disability or alternatively in a similar role such as: Youth Worker, Support Worker, Therapeutic Support Worker, Family Support Worker, Residential Childcare Worker,Youth Mentor / Key Worker.
How you will make a difference:
- Build Trust: Engage with vulnerable children using creative, trauma-informed methods.
- Provide Safety: Utilise your de-escalation skills to handle challenging behaviours, aggression, or self-harm with patience and composure.
- Be the Advocate: Provide accurate daily reports that directly shape the long-term therapeutic care plans for these young people.
What you'll require:
- At least 6 months of paid UK care experience (ideally as a children's residential support worker, support worker or in other residential or crisis settings).
- NISCC Registration
- Candidates will require a willingness to undergo an Enhanced Access NI check due to the nature of this work, this may include a Barred List check for both Children & Vulnerable Adults depending on the role
- A calm, resilient, and non-judgemental approach to complex and challenging behaviours.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage & build rapport
- A full UK driving licence is highly desirable to support community activities across our beautiful Welsh and South West regions.
