Are you passionate about making a difference in a child's life? Action for Children is looking for a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our team at a 3-bed permanent residential home in Yatton, North Somerset. This is more than a job; it's an opportunity to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children and young people aged 8-18 with various learning disabilities.
The Role
Salary: £24,309.07 - £26,099.
Contract: Permanent, full-time (37 hours a week) with a 2-week rolling rota and every second weekend off. Shifts are 8:00 am-8:30 pm and 9:30 am-9:30 pm.
Annual Leave: 29 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
Pension: Up to 7% employer contribution.
Discounts: Access to a discount portal and eligibility for a Blue Light Card with thousands of discounts from national retailers.
Development: Excellent training and development opportunities with full support for career progression.
Your Duties
Provide personalised care: You'll support young people with their daily routines, including personal care, administering medication (after training), and assisting with household tasks like cooking and shopping to promote independence.
Build relationships: You'll create and maintain positive relationships with the children, their families, and the community through emotional, social, and practical support.
Encourage growth: You'll help children participate in a range of stimulating activities both within the home and in the community, ensuring they have a safe and happy childhood. Our home has a fantastic sensory room and garden for the children to enjoy.
Promote their voice: You'll ensure the views and needs of the children are heard and responded to.
Your Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with a compassionate and positive attitude who is adaptable and has excellent communication skills. While previous experience in residential care is desirable, it's not essential. You should be willing to participate in on-the-job and off-site training and be able to work shifts as required by the service, which operates on a 24/7 or up to 7-day-a-week basis.
This is a career pathway position with opportunities for progression. If you don't already have a qualification, we will fully fund and support you to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) within two years of starting.
