Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a Locum Senior Social Worker to join the Referral and Assessment Team within Children's Services in Bromley. This is a key frontline role focused on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children through timely and thorough assessments and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake statutory assessments in line with the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance.

• Manage complex cases from initial referral through to case transfer, ensuring risk is appropriately assessed and managed.

• Lead on strategy discussions, child protection enquiries, and urgent responses to safeguarding concerns.

• Collaborate effectively with other professionals and agencies to gather information and inform assessments.

• Contribute to team development and provide support to less experienced colleagues as a Senior Practitioner.

• Maintain accurate and timely case recordings, ensuring all documentation complies with local policies and procedures.

• Attend relevant meetings including child protection conferences, legal planning meetings, and court where required.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

• Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience, preferably within referral & assessment or similar frontline teams.

• Proven experience in child protection, Section 47 investigations, and multi-agency working.

• Strong assessment, decision-making, and report-writing skills.

• Ability to work under pressure, manage a fast-paced caseload, and make sound safeguarding judgments.

Working Arrangements:

• Hybrid working model: combination of office-based and remote working.

• Must be able to attend Bromley for face-to-face work when required.
