We are seeking a highly competent and proactive School Business Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at our specialist provision in Chaldon, near Reigate.
About the Role
As a vital member of the SLT , you will be responsible for the leadership, management, supervision, and development of all non-educational support services. You will ensure the provision of an efficient, safe, healthy, clean, attractive, and comfortable environment within budget and business objectives.
This role requires a high degree of autonomy, including accountability for managing delegated budgets and resources. You will also be part of the 'senior on call' cover in emergencies.
Key Areas of Responsibility
You will be the key leader for all support departments, ensuring their effective and economical running:
Financial Resource Management: Leading financial management, including managing and monitoring budgets, financial performance, and activities. You will support the annual budgeting process and manage agreed budgets, highlighting variances and proposing corrective action.
Leadership and People Management: Providing professional leadership and management of support teams (including Finance, HR, Facilities, Site Maintenance, ICT, Health and Safety, Housekeeping, and Catering) to enhance performance and achieve excellent standards.
Administration & ICT: Overseeing the administrative function to ensure compliance, efficient processes, and up-to-date records. You will ensure IT systems and hardware are fit for purpose and meet the needs of all stakeholders, liaising with central IT teams.
Facilities and Site Management: Ensuring property, grounds, and facilities are maintained to high standards of safety and security.
Health & Safety: Acting as the Health & Safety Co-ordinator and Fire Officer, maintaining safety policies, fire practice records, and ensuring systems are in place for hazard identification and risk assessment.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
Experience of leading multiple teams across several functions.
Experience of managing budgets competently.
Ability to act with a high degree of autonomy and take decisions within the limits of your authority.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with a range of people.
Strong audit skills and the ability to operate recording and quality systems.
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults.
Desirable Qualifications:
A Management or Professional qualification in a related area (e.g., Management Diploma or Finance qualification).
