School Librarian- Liverpool
We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Librarian to join our team in a Liverpool school. This is more than just managing a collection, it's about creating a vibrant, engaging learning environment and fostering a love of reading in every student. The Role:
As a Librarian, you'll be the heart of the library, providing a comprehensive learning resource service for both students and staff. Reporting to the Curriculum Leader for English, you'll work to drive the vision of the English Department and ensure the library is a central part of the school's curriculum. You'll manage the library's day-to-day operations and supervise students as they engage in independent study and research.
Role Details:
- Pay Rate: £15 per hour.
- Working Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (40 hours per week).
- Working Time: Term time plus 4 weeks, with specific weeks to be agreed upon with your Line Manager.
- Location: Liverpool.
Key Duties:
- Service Provision: You will manage the library's stock and booking system, ensuring the content is relevant to student interest and curriculum needs. You'll also organise a variety of literacy events and competitions to promote reading, writing, and oracy skills.
- Student Support: You'll support students by helping them develop their learning and research skills. This includes running a homework club before and after school, ensuring students have access to the right equipment and resources.
- Environment Management: You'll ensure the library is a safe, attractive, and accessible learning environment, maintaining a high standard of decor and cleanliness while adhering to health and safety rules.
- Collaboration: You will work closely with the English Department and the wider literacy team to enhance student's literacy skills through intervention and modelling reading. You will also develop and maintain links with external resource providers.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience working in a library or educational setting is essential.
- Literacy Skills: A passion for promoting reading, writing, and oracy.
- Organisational Skills: The ability to manage stock, implement procedures for overdue books, and process new stock.
- Interpersonal Skills: You must be able to communicate effectively with staff, students, and visitors.
- Safeguarding: An understanding of and commitment to safeguarding and health and safety policies.
