Shape a Safe, Inspiring Environment for Our School Community
Are you a skilled, proactive handy person with high standards and an eye for detail?
Do you take pride in creating safe, welcoming spaces where children can learn, play, and thrive?
One of our Partner Schools at Randstad is seeking a dedicated, reliable School Premises Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation, health and safety, and maintenance of the school sites. In this pivotal role, you will be the backbone of the daily school logistics, ensuring the facilities remain safe, secure, compliant, and beautifully maintained.
What You Will Do
As a Premises Manager, no two days will look quite the same. You will work closely with the Headteacher, Office Manager, and Trust Director of Estates to keep the facilities running seamlessly:
- Site Security & Operations: Act as a trusted key-holder, managing daily site opening/closing across both sites, disabling alarm systems, unlocking gates for morning arrival, and securing the grounds. Maintaining a clean and safe school environment under the direction of the line manager.
- Routine Logistics & Setups: Prepare dining areas, handle daily breakfast club setups, coordinate internal event logistics, manage deliveries (including daily fruit and milk), and keep essential supplies replenished across all departments and Nursery.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Lead daily hazard walkthroughs, conduct weekly fire alarm testing, oversee play equipment checks, monitor asbestos logs, and log statutory compliance records using dedicated systems (e.g., Stat-log).
- Repairs & Refurbishment: Carry out reactive and planned minor repairs, touch-up decorating, basic plumbing, and minor building upkeep across internal and external facilities.
- Grounds keeping & Cleanliness: Maintain tidy, hazard-free grounds throughout all seasons (leaf clearance, path safety, debris removal) while overseeing waste management, recycling, and high standards of site hygiene.
- Contractor Liaison: Coordinate with external specialists and trades, source competitive quotes, and supervise contractors visiting the premises.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who takes initiative, communicates clearly, and approaches every task with practical skill and care.
- Hands-on Capability: Proven success in handy person, DIY, basic carpentry, or plumbing tasks is essential. Previous experience within a school or educational facility is desirable, though not required.
- Safety Awareness: Sound working knowledge of health and safety principles, risk awareness, and compliance tracking.
- Proactive Mindset: Ability to prioritise a dynamic workload, respond swiftly to maintenance requests, and resolve issues independently.
- Reliability & Ethos: Punctual, flexible, and supportive of the Catholic ethos and values that underpin our Trust community.
What We Offer
- A welcoming, supportive, and mission-driven school community.
- Opportunities for continuous professional development, specialised compliance training, and career progression within the Trust.
