Randstad Education is working closely with a highly specialised secondary school in the Luton area to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teacher for a full-time, permanent position. The school caters to students aged 11-19 with a range of severe and profound learning difficulties. Many pupils are non-verbal and require support with physical and sensory needs, so the ideal candidate will be someone who is confident with a multi-sensory approach and can deliver highly differentiated lessons.
The leadership team is exceptional, with strong support systems in place for all staff. Class sizes are small, with a high staff-to-student ratio, ensuring pupils get the attention and care they need.
Your Role
... Plan, deliver, and assess personalised lessons that cater to students with PMLD, following EHCPs and tailored IEPs
Create a safe and stimulating learning environment that encourages engagement, independence, and emotional regulation
Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide holistic, child-centred care
Use a variety of sensory resources and assistive technology to support communication and cognitive development
Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and liaise with parents and caregivers regularly
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification
Proven experience teaching students with PMLD or severe/complex needs in a special school or similar setting
Strong understanding of safeguarding, EHCP implementation, and adaptive teaching methods
Confidence working with non-verbal pupils using tools such as PECS, Makaton, switches, or eye gaze technology
A calm, empathetic and flexible approach with a genuine passion for inclusive education
