Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver creative, highly differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning styles and targets outlined in pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Teach pupils with a wide spectrum of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe or Complex Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
- Foster a safe, low-arousal, and nurturing environment that promotes emotional regulation, confidence, and independence.
- Lead and deploy classroom Teaching Assistants effectively to deliver high-quality 1:1 and small group interventions.
- Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to handle challenging behaviours with composure and empathy.
- Collaborate closely with SENCOs, therapists, external agencies, and parents to support each child's physical, emotional, and academic progress.
What We Look For:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with relevant experience.
- Proven experience teaching or supporting children or young people with special educational needs (in specialist or mainstream settings).
- Strong capability to adapt curriculum delivery to suit varying developmental levels rather than just chronological age.
- A resilient, calm, and proactive approach paired with exceptional classroom management skills.
- Knowledge of alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS) and de-escalation training (e.g., Team-Teach, MAPA, STEPs) is highly desirable.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
