Watford
Are you an experienced, Qualified SEN Teacher looking for the perfect work-life balance?
Do you want to utilise your specialist skills to support unique minds, but need a flexible schedule that puts you in complete control of your timetable?
If you are looking for rewarding daily supply or short-term placements across a network of premier specialist schools in Watford, Randstad Education wants to partner with you.
We are seeking adaptable, high-energy Qualified SEN Teachers (QTS) for full-time and part-time supply opportunities within our partner special schools across Watford. This route is ideal for educators who love the impact of specialist teaching but want to step away from the endless cycle of planning, grading, and administrative data tracking. Whether you are looking to work one day a week or five, you will provide vital continuity for pupils with diverse complex needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
Your Responsibilities
- Dynamic Adaptive Delivery: Step into diverse classrooms and confidently deliver pre-planned, sensory-friendly activities, quickly adapting your approach to match the cognitive profiles of individual pupils.
- Instant Rapport Building: Connect quickly with vulnerable or neurodiverse students, utilising your strong emotional intelligence to create an immediate sense of safety and predictability.
- Classroom Team Leadership: Provide clear, proactive direction to the permanent classroom Teaching Assistants, leveraging their student-specific knowledge to ensure a synchronised approach to the day.
- Positive Behaviour Support: Enforce the school's positive behaviour frameworks seamlessly, utilising proactive de-escalation strategies and sensory breaks to manage moments of student distress or anxiety.
- Communication Access: Confidently support classrooms utilising functional communication aids, including Makaton, visual schedules, or PECS, to ensure every child has a voice.
- Handover Excellence: Take accurate morning and afternoon registers, and leave detailed, positive handover notes for the returning classroom teacher.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A proven track record of teaching or leading sessions within a specialist SEN school, alternative provision, or specialised unit.
- Agency-Ready Adaptability: The professional confidence to walk into a new school environment or a different cohort of complex needs and hit the ground running.
- Deep SEND Intuition: A thorough understanding of how to modify communication styles and implement positive behaviour support (PBS) strategies on the fly.
- Reliable Communication: A proactive approach to working with your agency, keeping your digital availability calendar updated so we can secure your ideal bookings.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
