- Positive Behaviour Support: Implement personalised strategies to help students manage their emotions and navigate the school day in a calm, low-arousal manner.
- Personal Care & Wellbeing: Assist with the physical and emotional needs of students, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and ready to learn.
- Communication Advocacy: Utilise tools such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables to help non-verbal or semi-verbal students express themselves.
- Collaborative Working: Partner with the class teacher and therapy teams (Speech & Language, OT) to follow Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Celebrating Milestones: Foster a positive environment where every small victory-from improved social interaction to a new skill mastered-is celebrated.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Experience or Passion: Prior experience in SEN is beneficial, but we also welcome individuals from care, sports coaching, or youth work backgrounds who possess the right "can-do" attitude.
- Resilience: The ability to stay calm and supportive during challenging moments.
- Empathy: A genuine desire to understand the unique perspectives and needs of neurodivergent learners.
- Reliability: The school needs consistent faces to build trust with their students-your punctuality and commitment are key.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
