Harris Academy Tottenham (HATO)-rated 'Outstanding' by OFSTED-is seeking an exceptional, experienced, and qualified SENCO to join the team on an interim supply basis.
This post is to start ASAP and run through until December, with a strong possibility of transitioning into a permanent contract starting in January for the right candidate. You will lead, manage, and shape the provision of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the academy, embedding an ethos of inclusion, high aspirations, and academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Statutory Compliance: Ensure all academy practices comply with the SEND Code of Practice (2014) and maintain an accurate, up-to-date SEND Profile.
- Identification & Interventions: Lead the identification and assessment of SEND needs across the academy and manage high-quality targeted interventions.
- Quality First Teaching: Model best practices in Quality First Teaching, differentiation, and inclusive learning strategies within your own teaching.
- Staff Leadership & CPD: Provide professional development for teachers and support staff regarding SEND and deploy team resources according to student needs.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Track student progress, prepare termly reports for the Governing Body, and work closely with parents, carers, leadership, and external specialists.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree, plus the National Award for SEN Co-ordination (NASENCO) or equivalent experienced SENCO credentials.
- Availability: Available to start ASAP for the autumn term cover.
- Experience: Proven experience as a SENCO or senior SEND leader within a secondary or all-through school environment.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of EHCP processes, national priorities, curriculum development, and quality assurance techniques.
- Key Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and pastoral skills with a proven track record of engaging key stakeholders.
