Advanced Practitioner - SEND Disability Team (Barnsley)

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Practitioner to join our dedicated SEND Disability Team. This is a challenging and rewarding role for a social worker with expertise in supporting children and young people with SEND.

Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues on complex cases involving children and young people with SEND.

Conduct thorough and timely assessments, developing and implementing effective support plans.
Mentor and supervise junior social workers, promoting best practice and professional development.
Lead on complex cases, often involving multiple agencies and challenging circumstances.
Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making within the team.
Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives, ensuring continuous quality improvement.
Requirements:
Registered with Social Care England.
Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience as a qualified Social Worker. Significant experience working with children and young people with SEND is essential. Proven experience in a supervisory or advanced practice role is highly desirable.
Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to SEND.
Excellent assessment, communication, and case management skills.
Ability to build rapport and trust with children, young people, and their families.
Commitment to person-centered practice and ethical standards.
