The Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) in the South Leeds area. This is a full-time position with the potential to transition from temporary to permanent for the right candidate.
You will be working within a school that caters to pupils aged 2-19 with a diverse range of needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and complex medical needs. This is an environment where every small victory is celebrated, and your support can truly change a child's life.
Daily Rate: £90 - £95 (depending on experience)
Skills & Duties
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your day will be varied and heart-centred. You will:
Support Learning: Adapt classroom activities to meet the individual needs of pupils, ensuring lessons are accessible and engaging.
Personal Care: Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility (training will be provided where necessary).
Behaviour Management: Use de-escalation techniques to support students with sensory processing needs or challenging behaviours.
Communication: Utilise specialist communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC devices to help non-verbal students express themselves.
Collaborate: Work closely with Class Teachers, Therapists, and parents to track and support student progress.
Must-Haves
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
Enhanced DBS: A DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for a new one).
Right to Work: Valid eligibility to work in the UK.
Experience: Proven experience working with children or adults with SEND (Severe/Profound Learning Difficulties or Autism preferred).
Qualifications: Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 TA, Health & Social Care, or equivalent experience).
