Duties of the Role
As a SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant, your primary goal is to remove barriers to learning and ensure your assigned pupil can safely access the curriculum.
Providing tailored 1:1 support within the classroom and during break times.
Implementing strategies outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Adapting learning materials to suit the child's specific needs and ability levels.
Monitoring progress and providing feedback to the Class Teacher and SENDCo.
Fostering a positive social environment and encouraging independence.
Skills Required
The ability to remain calm and supportive under pressure.
Strong verbal skills to engage with the pupil and collaborate with parents and staff.
A flexible approach to learning, as no two days are the same in a SEND environment.
The capacity to handle challenging behaviour with a positive, solution-focused mindset.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
Enhanced DBS: You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one through Randstad.
Right to Work: Full eligibility to work in the UK is essential.
Experience: Previous experience working with children (ideally within a SEND or school setting).
References: Ability to provide professional references covering the last two years.
