Are you a visionary Social Work leader with a track record of driving 'Good' and 'Outstanding' practice? North Tyneside Council is seeking a Senior Manager for Social Work Practice to join our Children's Management Team. This is a rare opportunity to lead within one of the country's top-performing authorities, shaping statutory services until March 2027.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Head of Service for Safeguarding, you will provide visible, credible leadership across a broad portfolio. This isn't just about oversight; it's about maintaining the gold standard of social work while driving continuous innovation.
Your Portfolio Includes:
Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) & Assessment Teams.
Child in Need, Child Protection, and Court Proceedings.
Adoption Services & Children with Disabilities (CWD).
What You Will Do
Drive Strategy: Lead transformational change and embed a culture of continuous improvement across multi-disciplinary teams.
Strategic Representation: Represent Children's Social Care on strategic boards and partnerships, providing professional counsel to senior leaders and elected members.
Quality Assurance: Ensure rigorous compliance with statutory frameworks and Ofsted inspection standards.
Resource Management: Oversee complex budgets and optimize resources to ensure the best outcomes for children and families.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a "hit the ground running" leader who has already operated at Service Manager or Senior Manager level within a statutory setting.
Requirements:
The 'Good' Standard: You must have experience working within a local authority that has successfully improved its services to a 'Good' rating. You know what excellence looks like and how to sustain it.
Leadership Credibility: Proven ability to motivate, influence, and lead large teams through periods of change.
Expertise: Extensive experience in safeguarding, court proceedings, and performance improvement models.
Qualifications: Qualified Social Worker (SWE Registered) with deep knowledge of statutory frameworks.
Working Pattern
To maintain our high-visibility leadership model, the successful candidate will be required to be on-site in North Tyneside three days per week.
