The Role
As a Senior Social Worker in the Pre-Birth Team, the successful candidate will have an exciting opportunity to make an impactful difference in the lives of families and unborn children. The role will involve managing a small, focused caseload of unborn children, providing attentive, personalised care. The social worker will:
Undertake comprehensive pre-birth assessments to plan and prepare necessary support for expecting families.
Deliver intense interventions and individual support tailored to the needs of pregnant families, ensuring safety and stability.
Continue care for babies once they are born, ensuring continuity and a sense of security.
Address cases where babies are subject to Interim Care Orders and in care proceedings, ensuring thorough management through to final hearings.
Engage in court work, providing precise documentation and informed recommendations for final hearings.
Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to less experienced social workers regarding complex pre-birth assessments and legal processes.
Prepare high-quality, analytical, and evidence-based reports for Child Protection Conferences, Public Law Outline (PLO) meetings, and court proceedings.
Maintain accurate, concise, and timely electronic case records in line with statutory requirements and Birmingham City Council policies.
