Job role: Senior Warehouse Operator
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Shift Times: 08:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 17:00
Flexibility: Availability for overtime work as required
Salary: £37,000 to £44,000 p.a
Contract Types: For temporary/agency staffing contracts are typically renewed in 6-month increments with the ultimate goal of permanent hiring, often reaching up to 24 months. We have previously placed candidates through internships (stage), apprenticeships and long-term staff leasing.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Warehouse & Plant Operator to join our integrated production and manufacturing facility. In this role, you will be a key anchor for our internal logistics, responsible for moving high-value stone slabs through various critical processing and manufacturing phases.
This is a position for a seasoned professional. Because our facility functions as a full-scale processing plant, you will be utilizing overhead cranes and heavy-duty forklifts as a primary, daily function of your workflow. We are looking for someone who brings a deep understanding of the unique handling requirements of the stone sector and pairs it with an uncompromised commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Precision Material Handling: Safely and efficiently transport stone and marble slabs across different production lines, machinery stations, and storage zones.
- Advanced Machinery Operation: Serve as a primary operator for overhead gantry cranes, heavy-duty forklifts, and standard forklifts to maneuver fragile, heavy, and oversized materials.
- Production Continuity: Coordinate closely with the manufacturing team to ensure that stone-processing phases are continuously supplied with the correct materials, minimizing plant downtime.
- Inventory Oversight: Monitor incoming slabs and finished products, verifying quality, dimensions, and proper storage placement within the plant.
- Safety Leadership: Enforce and adhere to strict safety protocols regarding heavy load suspension and machinery operation; assist in mentoring junior operators on safe handling techniques.
Qualifications & Experience
- Industry Experience: Several years of proven, hands-on experience specifically within the stone/marble industry or in industrial environments requiring the constant movement of large, fragile slab materials.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated mastery in operating overhead cranes and various types of forklifts.
- Education: A specific academic diploma is not mandatory, provided you have a strong, verifiable track record of successful experience in similar plant environments.
- Key Skills: Deep understanding of load capacities, rigging techniques for overhead cranes, and spatial awareness in a busy production environment. Fluency in Italian is required for seamless plant coordination.
