We are currently recruiting for a Site Agent (Marine / Coastal) to join a tier-one main contractor on a flagship civil engineering scheme, based out of Bristol on a hybrid basis. While you must have a strong background in site delivery, this specific role is focused on the critical pre-construction phase-defining the project's strategy, constructing the scope of works, and packaging the project up before it goes out to tender and into full-scale delivery.
The Role
Working within a highly strategic environment, you will bridge the gap between initial engineering concepts and live site delivery. You will use your practical marine experience to scope, de-risk, and prepare major packages of work. Your day-to-day will involve:
Scope Construction: Reviewing complex engineering plans to build comprehensive, practical Scopes of Work for major marine and civil engineering packages.
Package Management: Developing and structuring procurement packages, ensuring all technical specs and commercial boundaries are clearly defined prior to going out to tender.
Buildability & Risk: Conducting rigorous buildability reviews and assessing risks specific to marine environments (tidal constraints, vessel movements, environmental licensing).
Tender Support: Collaborating closely with procurement and commercial teams to evaluate tender returns from specialist marine sub-contractors.
Delivery Transition: Ensuring a seamless handover of the finalised work packages to the live construction and site delivery teams.
Essential Requirements
Due to the technical demands and specialist nature of this project, we can only consider candidates who meet the following criteria:
Delivery Foundation: A proven track record working as a Site Agent or Engineer in a live site delivery capacity, specifically on marine or coastal engineering projects (e.g., piling, quayside works, sea defences).
Pre-Construction Aptitude: Experience in (or a strong technical capability for) constructing scopes of work, writing methodology, and packaging up major civil engineering works.
Civil Engineering Background: A degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related construction discipline.
Technical Literacy: Exceptional ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, contract documents (NEC frameworks), and technical specifications.
Commercial Acumen: A strong understanding of work packaging, estimating interfaces, and the sub-contractor tendering process.
