About the RoleAs a pivotal member of our team, you'll be responsible for the end-to-end successful delivery of multiple, varied projects within this essential water scheme. This isn't just about managing tasks; it's about leading on-site operations with precision, ensuring every project is executed safely, delivered punctually, and remains within its allocated budget. Your leadership and technical acumen will be instrumental in coordinating all aspects of site activity, from meticulous planning and resource allocation to stringent quality control and effective stakeholder engagement.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership: Take full ownership of all day-to-day site operations for both civils new-build and critical asset maintenance projects, ensuring seamless execution.
Team & Subcontractor Management: Provide strong, clear leadership to project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Oversee performance, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Excellence: Champion a culture of safety. Develop, implement, and strictly enforce robust health, safety, and environmental protocols and procedures, ensuring all site activities comply with the latest legislation and best practices.
Project Planning & Control: Develop comprehensive project plans, detailed risk assessments, and robust method statements. Proactively identify potential risks and challenges, implementing effective mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Continuously monitor project progress against milestones and key performance indicators. Provide regular, accurate updates to senior management and clients, clearly communicating achievements, challenges, and forecasts.
Budget & Cost Management: Diligently manage project budgets, tracking expenditure, identifying cost efficiencies, and ensuring all works are delivered in a cost-effective manner without compromising quality or safety.
Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous quality control procedures, conducting regular inspections to ensure all works meet specified standards, design requirements, and regulatory compliance.
Stakeholder & Client Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong, positive relationships with clients, key stakeholders, local authorities, and the wider community, ensuring transparent communication and effective issue resolution.
Proven Site Agent Experience: You'll need substantial, demonstrable experience as a Site Agent specifically within the water infrastructure sector, with a strong portfolio of successfully delivered civils projects.
Project Value Management: A clear track record of effectively managing and delivering projects with individual values ranging from £300,000 to £5 million.
Water Asset Expertise: A deep understanding of asset maintenance challenges and best practices within a live water utility environment.
Technical Proficiency: Solid technical knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials relevant to water infrastructure.
HSE Acumen: Comprehensive knowledge and practical application of current health, safety, and environmental legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations).
Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership qualities with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage diverse teams. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are essential for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Problem-Solving & Decision Making: A proactive and analytical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Autonomy & Teamwork: Capable of working autonomously, taking full responsibility for your projects, while also integrating seamlessly into a larger programme team.
Qualifications: Possession of relevant industry qualifications such as SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) and a valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card is essential. Additional qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, relevant engineering degree/HNC) would be highly advantageous.
