Project Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to provide support during the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and detailed design stage for a major regional infrastructure scheme in Norfolk.
The project scope includes 2.5km of new single carriageway, active travel routes, roundabouts, new bridge structures, major drainage, utility diversions, and 800m of dual carriageway/interchange modifications. You will report directly to the Agent and manage on-site survey works, ground investigations, and site clearance activities safely, efficiently, and "right first time."
Key Responsibilities
- Site Surveying & Setting Out: Set out and survey points/locations using GPS. Manage site survey packages including topography, Ground Investigation (GI), pavement, and drainage.
- Front-Line Supervision: Supervise on-site works, front-line teams, and sub-contractor activities. Manage sub-contractor accounts alongside the commercial/QS team.
- Safety & Permits: Issue and manage Permits to Dig, execute pre-construction equipment checks, and lead site safety. Must be proficient in operating RD4000 or RD8000 CAT & Genny.
- Quality & Record Keeping: Enforce Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), track non-conformances, and maintain accurate daily site diaries, variations, and RAMS reviews via app-based management tools.
- Landowner & Traffic Interface: Carry out pre- and post-work surveys in accordance with landowner requirements. Oversee traffic management (including occasional night shifts for carriageway works).
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven track record as a Site Engineer on UK civil engineering, highways, or major infrastructure projects.
- Technical Skills: Expert in setting out (GPS), service location (CAT & Genny), GI/topo surveys, and sub-contractor supervision.
- Certifications: Valid CSCS Card, SSSTS/SMSTS, and First Aid at Work.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work night shifts when required for carriageway traffic management.
