The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people by facilitating their placement within their extended family and friends network.

Contract Type: Locum/Temporary
Team: Fostering Kinship Care Team
Key Focus: Assessment and support of kinship carers to ensure children remain within their family network.
The role involves managing a complex and diverse caseload, undertaking high-quality assessments, and offering ongoing support to kinship carers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the legal framework surrounding kinship care, including Special Guardianship Orders and Connected Persons assessments.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conducting comprehensive assessments of potential kinship carers, including viability, Special Guardianship Order (SGO), and Connected Persons assessments.
Providing ongoing supervision, advice, and support to approved kinship carers to ensure the highest standards of care.
Participating in and contributing to court proceedings, writing detailed and analytical reports.
Working collaboratively with a range of professionals, including colleagues from children's social care, legal teams, and external agencies.
Mentoring and providing guidance to newly qualified and less experienced social workers within the team.
Contributing to the development of the service and upholding best practices in line with relevant legislation and policy.
Attending and presenting cases at fostering panels as required.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records and reports.
