Empower Higher Education Students to Thrive
Are you an experienced mental health practitioner looking for a purposeful, rewarding role with genuine work-life balance?
Randstad Student Support is recruiting dedicated Specialist Mental Health Mentors (MH) to support undergraduate and postgraduate students at Lancaster University.
Funded through the Disabled Students' Allowances (DSA), Specialist Mentors offer individualised, non-clinical guidance. Working collaboratively with students facing mental health difficulties, you will help them develop personalised coping mechanisms, manage academic-related stress, build emotional resilience, and successfully navigate their university journey.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will deliver tailored one-to-one mentoring sessions focused on breaking down the barriers that mental health conditions can present to academic engagement and overall wellbeing:
-Wellbeing & Routine: Supporting students in establishing healthy daily routines and achieving a sustainable balance between university life, social commitments, and self-care.
-Overcoming Academic Anxiety: Assisting learners in managing anxiety, stress, or low mood associated with coursework, seminars, group projects, and assessments.
-Goal Setting & Organisation: Guiding students to deconstruct complex assignment guidelines and deadlines into manageable, realistic action steps.
-Strengths-Based Reflection: Encouraging self-reflection and empowering students to identify personal strengths and develop long-term strategies for independence.
-Safe & Professional Practice: Maintaining clear professional boundaries, student confidentiality, and reporting any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns promptly to our dedicated regional coordination team.
-Session Records: Submitting prompt, accurate timesheets and session updates via our streamlined online portal.
Mandatory Requirements & Professional Memberships
Because this is a DSA-funded Non-Medical Helper (NMH) specialist role, applicants must hold an active, qualified-tier membership with a recognised professional body adhering to the DfE Quality Assurance Framework:
-BACP (Registered Member MBACP / Accredited Member MBACP)
-BABCP (Full Member)
