Are you a proven Sub Agent with a strong track record in major civils? A Tier 1 Main Contractor is seeking an experienced, heavy-highway Sub Agent to hit the ground running for a 4-month cover role on a major highways scheme in Hampshire.
This is a fast-paced environment where you will immediately take the reins of an active delivery team, ensuring momentum is maintained safely, on time, and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
As the Sub Agent, you will oversee a dedicated delivery team and manage several critical, concurrent packages of work:
- Package Management: Drive the delivery of Earthworks, Road Construction, Utilities (diversions and installations), and sensitive Ecology mitigation works.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor Section Engineers, Site Engineers, and subcontractors, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- RAMS & Quality: Review and approve Method Statements and Risk Assessments. Ensure ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans) are strictly adhered to.
- Programming & Progress: Look-ahead programming (3-week rolling), monitoring progress against the master schedule, and reporting commercial or technical variations early.
- HSEQ: Champion a zero-harm culture on-site, ensuring all activities comply with environmental permissions (especially vital for the ecology packages).
About You
To seamlessly step into this role, you will need:
- Tier 1 Experience: A proven track record working for a Tier 1 Main Contractor on major highways or infrastructure projects.
- Technical Breadth: Strong engineering and management knowledge spanning earthworks, pavement construction, and utility coordination.
- Qualifications: * Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership and communication skills. You need to be a decisive problem-solver who can manage subcontractor relationships firmly but fairly.
