This role serves as the vital link between foster carers and the children in their care, ensuring that every placement is supported by robust supervision and a clinical focus on the "voice of the child." Operating with a hybrid approach, the successful candidate will balance home-based administrative work with essential face-to-face visits across the Durham and Newcastle areas.
The Role Summary
The Supervising Social Worker is responsible for the management of a fostering caseload, ensuring that carers are empowered to provide high-quality, trauma-informed care. This is a role for a reflective practitioner who prioritises relationship-building and regulatory excellence. The post-holder will ensure that placements remain stable, safe, and aligned with National Minimum Standards, while contributing to the growth of the agency through meticulous assessment and panel work.
Duties & Responsibilities
Delivering consistent monthly supervision to a dedicated group of foster carers, providing them with the emotional and professional tools required to thrive.
Ensuring children in placement are seen at least bi-monthly, placing their needs and perspectives at the heart of all decision-making processes.
Acting as a proactive champion for child safety by responding swiftly to concerns and collaborating effectively with the Registered Manager and multi-agency partners.
Undertaking comprehensive Form F assessments and producing high-quality analytical reports for presentation to Fostering Panels.
Maintaining precise electronic records via the CHARMS system and ensuring all activities meet statutory requirements and National Minimum Standards.
Participating in an out-of-hours rota to provide essential guidance and support to carers during evenings and weekends.
Candidate Profile
The agency is looking for a Qualified Social Worker (registered with Social Work England) who possesses a "rock-solid" understanding of safeguarding and post-qualifying experience within children's social care. The ideal candidate will be a strong analytical writer with the ability to navigate complex family dynamics with empathy and professional curiosity.
Requirements:
A recognised Social Work qualification and active professional registration.
High level of IT competence, specifically within Microsoft 365 and case management systems.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regional travel.
