About the Role
Randstad Education in Leeds is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and talented Teacher of Food Technology for a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2026. Requirements
... - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
- Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).

- Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.

- Differentiation: Skill in adapting complex practical tasks to make them accessible to students of all abilities and backgrounds.
- Time Management: Exceptional organisational skills to ensure lessons fit perfectly into the school's structured timetable.
- Data-Driven Intervention: Ability to analyse student performance metrics to implement targeted academic support.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging Food Technology lessons that align with the national curriculum and exam board specifications.
- Practical Lesson Management: Oversee and manage all live cooking elements of the class, ensuring students execute culinary techniques safely and efficiently.
- Academic Assessment: Implement structured feedback routines, including the school's modelled examples, to secure long-term knowledge retention.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain strict hygiene, food safety, and risk assessment protocols within the food room, aligned with standard school safety regulations.
- Resource and Ingredient Management: Manage the ordering, storage, preparation, and budgeting of food ingredients and kitchen equipment.
- Progress Monitoring: Track, record, and report on the academic progress and practical competencies of all students, identifying and supporting those who need extra intervention.
- Form Tutor Duties: Act as a dedicated Form Tutor, supporting the pastoral care, attendance, and holistic well being of an assigned student group.
- Character Development Support: Actively promote the school's core values of ambition, teamwork, and respect within the classroom and the wider school community.
- Departmental Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Design and Technology team to share best practices, develop resources, and contribute to standard moderation.
- Parental Engagement: Maintain regular, positive communication with parents and guardians regarding student behaviour, practical needs, and academic achievements.
