Rewarding Teaching Assistant Opportunity in Cranleigh - Make a Real Difference!
Location: Cranleigh, Surrey
Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with diverse learning needs to help them achieve their full potential? An inspiring and dedicated specialist educational setting in Cranleigh is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join their committed team as Teaching Assistants.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment where every day brings new rewards. You will play a crucial role in assisting students aged 5-19 who have severe social communication difficulties, complex learning disabilities, and may exhibit challenging behaviours. Our approach is therapy-based, focusing on enabling students to access a tailored education and develop vital life skills.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting students in small classes (typically 4-11 students) and on a one-to-one basis to access a personalised and differentiated curriculum.
- Assisting with the development of core skills, including literacy and numeracy, as well as practical life and living skills such as cookery and gardening.
- Implementing individual education and behaviour support plans, working closely with teachers, therapists, and other specialists.
- Encouraging students' engagement, independence, and social interaction.
- Supporting students during off-site activities and community outings designed to build confidence and life skills.
- Contributing to a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
- Assisting with the observation, recording, and reporting of student progress.
- Potentially providing personal care for some students, always with dignity and respect.
What we're looking for:
- A genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people with special educational needs.
- Empathy, patience, and a resilient "can-do" attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and families.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a dedicated team.
- A willingness to learn and undertake comprehensive training, including safeguarding and positive behaviour support (e.g., Team Teach).
- While previous experience in a similar role or with individuals with special educational needs is an advantage, it is not essential as full training will be provided.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills to support student learning and complete necessary records.
Why join us?
- A profoundly rewarding role where you can see the direct impact of your support.
- A collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development, including recognised qualifications.
- The chance to develop specialist skills in supporting students with complex needs.
- (Consider adding any known generic benefits e.g., "Term-time working opportunities," "Access to an employee assistance programme," "Beautiful working environment" if these are typical for the Trust but not name-specific).
If you are a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic individual looking for a challenging yet immensely fulfilling role, we would love to hear from you.
