About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be reporting to the Class Teacher and play a vital role in supporting students' learning and general wellbeing. Your main purpose is to ensure every child has the best opportunity to learn and grow.
This includes:
Supporting the Class Teacher with all areas of the day-to-day running of the class.
Helping with care needs, such as toileting, hygiene, dressing, and eating, and monitoring pupils' health and well-being.
Implementing learning activities and reinforcing concepts presented by teachers.
Applying positive behaviour management strategies, adopting a tailored approach to each individual child, and adapting your responses to changes in behaviour.
Promoting independence, personal development, and high expectations of behaviour.
Contributing to the monitoring and recording of pupils' progress.
Taking responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
What We're Looking For
While there are no mandatory qualifications, we are seeking candidates who can demonstrate:
Knowledge and Experience (Desirable):
Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviours, including managing challenging behaviours.
Experience working within education or a multi-cultural, inclusive setting.
Skills:
A commitment to the role, with a desire to put the child first and treat them as an individual.
A positive and creative approach to meeting pupils' needs.
The ability to work both on your own and as part of a team.
Good numeracy, literacy, and competent ICT skills.
Being flexible, adaptable, and solution-focused.
The ability to work within the parameters of what can be physically demanding work at times.
Requirements
Eligibility to work within the UK.
Satisfactory Enhanced DBS with barred list checks.
The ability to meet the physical demands of the job role.
A full valid driving license may be required depending on the provision's location/nature.
