We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our partner Primary School based in Luton for a full-time, long-term placement starting in September 2026. This dedicated community school supports pupils through their crucial early developmental milestones, focusing on core literacy, numeracy confidence, and social-emotional growth. We are looking for an educational professional who sees individual potential, helps deliver engaging learning activities, and fosters an environment where every student feels secure and motivated to achieve.
Your Responsibilities
- Classroom Learning Support: Assist the class teacher in delivering high-impact, creative lessons, ensuring that pupils remain focused, motivated, and fully included in all daily activities.
- Targeted Interventions: Lead small group or one-on-one reading, writing, and numeracy interventions to support pupils who require extra help or academic stretching.
- Inclusive Care: Work closely with the school's SENCo to provide tailored support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) or English as an Additional Language (EAL).
- Positive Environment: Help maintain a calm, stimulating, and safe classroom culture rooted in mutual respect, positive reinforcement, and clear routines.
- Playground & Welfare Supervision: Support with midday lunchtime duties and break time supervision, ensuring pupil safety and encouraging positive social play.
- Collaborative Support: Maintain professional communication with teachers and phase leaders regarding student milestones, daily behaviour, and overall well-being.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Primary School Experience: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or youth worker within a primary school setting is highly desirable.
- Pedagogical Adaptability: A patient, nurturing demeanour with a genuine interest in child development and the capability to break down simple learning tasks for young minds.
- Confident Behaviour Management: The ability to establish clear boundaries, hold students to positive behavioural expectations, and respond to learning anxieties with empathy.
- Long-Term Consistency: Total availability to commit to a full-time, Monday-to-Friday schedule across the entire 2026/2027 academic year.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one directly through Randstad).
