Durham County Council is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Team Manager to lead our Fostering Home-Finders Team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and families within Durham.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and supervise a team of Fostering Social Workers, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of the fostering home-finders service.
Oversee the recruitment, assessment, and approval process of prospective foster carers, ensuring compliance with National Minimum Standards and Fostering Services Regulations.
Provide expert guidance and support to team members on complex fostering assessments and challenges.
Manage caseloads within the team, ensuring timely progression of assessments and placement of children.
Develop and implement strategies to increase the number and diversity of foster carers within Durham County.
Ensure the provision of high-quality training and support to approved foster carers.
Monitor and evaluate team performance, identifying areas for development and implementing improvement plans.
Collaborate effectively with other teams within Children's Services and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to child welfare.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and ensure all statutory requirements are met.
Contribute to the strategic development of fostering services within Durham County Council.
Key Requirements:
You must be a qualified Social Worker.
Social Care England registration is essential.
An updated DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required.
Significant post-qualifying experience within fostering or a related children's social care setting.
Proven experience in supervising and managing social work staff.
Thorough knowledge of fostering legislation, regulations, and best practices.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children.
