Are you a passionate and inspiring individual eager to embark on a fulfilling teaching career? We're seeking a dedicated Trainee Teacher to join our supportive team at a specialist school in Cranleigh, committed to providing exceptional education for autistic students.
This is an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop your pedagogical skills, and make a profound difference in the lives of young people with autism. You'll be part of a nurturing environment where students thrive, and you'll receive comprehensive support and mentorship to achieve a CABAS Teacher Qualification.
What we're looking for:
A strong desire to teach and a genuine interest in working with autistic students.
A relevant degree (or equivalent qualification) and a commitment to undertaking initial teacher training.
At least 6 months of experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally within an educational setting. This could be as a Teaching Assistant, support worker, or similar role.
A positive and proactive approach to supporting students, including those who may exhibit challenging behaviours. Your patience, empathy, and ability to build rapport will be crucial.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle, as the role may involve supporting off-site learning opportunities or transporting students.
In this role, you will:
Work alongside experienced teachers to plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of autistic students.
Support students in developing academic skills, life skills, and social understanding.
Learn and implement effective strategies for managing challenging behaviours and promoting a positive learning environment.
Contribute to the holistic development and well-being of our students.
Participate in professional development, mentoring sessions, and all aspects of your teacher training programme.
Collaborate with staff, therapists, and families to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.
If you're ready to take the first step towards a rewarding career as a teacher, and you're passionate about empowering autistic learners, we want to hear from you!
