As a Year 6 Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the final year of your pupils' primary education-instilling confidence, driving academic progress, and seamlessly preparing them for their transition to secondary school.
Key Responsibilities
Inspirational Teaching: Plan, resource, and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that challenge and motivate pupils across the full breadth of the Year 6 curriculum.
Assessment & Progress: Accurately monitor, track, and assess pupil progress. Utilise data effectively to implement targeted interventions, ensuring every child achieves their full potential.
Classroom Environment: Establish a structured, positive, and inclusive learning environment where high standards of behaviour and mutual respect are the norm.
Secondary Transition: Foster resilience and independence in pupils, ensuring they are emotionally and academically equipped for Key Stage 3.
Collaborative Practice: Work closely with the wider Key Stage 2 team, subject leads, and senior leadership to share best practices, engage in moderation, and contribute to the wider life of the academy.
Person Specification
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
Experience: Prior Year 6 teaching experience is essential. You must demonstrate a proven track record of raising attainment and navigating the unique demands of the final primary year.
Qualifications: Hold UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a relevant degree.
Curriculum Knowledge: Possess an in-depth, up-to-date understanding of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum and statutory assessment frameworks.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong, professional relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
