Pay Rate: £38.00 - £40.00 per hour
Hours: Full-Time (37 hours per week, Monday - Friday)

About the Role
Leicester City Council is seeking an experienced, qualified Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join their dedicated Core AMHP Team. In this role, you will play a critical part in assessing and supporting individuals experiencing severe mental health crises, ensuring their rights and safety are protected under the Mental Health Act.
Re-warranting is available for suitable candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Duty Rota Participation: Serve as the initial point of contact for incoming referrals within the Core AMHP Team.
- MHA Assessments: Consider Mental Health Act (MHA) requests, and coordinate, set up, and carry out statutory assessments across a variety of community and hospital settings.
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete all required statutory paperwork, legal reports, and associated documentation promptly and accurately.
- Tribunal Representation: Prepare detailed reports and represent the authority at Mental Health Tribunals when required.
Working Pattern & Requirements
- Shift Flexibility: 37 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Candidates should be flexible to work either of the following shifts based on service needs:
- 08:30 - 17:00
- 12:00 - 20:00 (ability to work later shifts is essential)
- Hybrid Working: Flexible hybrid arrangement with 1 mandatory office day per week (alternating between Mondays and Fridays).
- Travel Requirements: Active driver with access to a vehicle for travel across the city for assessments.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Valid AMHP qualification and willingness to be re-warranted with Leicester City.
- Proven experience conducting Mental Health Act assessments in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
- Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and human rights legislation.
- Excellent report-writing and multi-agency communication skills.
